What We Do
AVESSA Media Group is a young start-up media company based in Miami that is focused on restoring the glamour of fashion while providing intelligent and informative content for the discerning consumer. We strive to operate lean and nimble with an ethical business mindset and focus on continuous service improvement.
We concentrate on producing premium magazines that are printed on a much heavier paper weight, providing a more upscale and sophisticated reading experience, meant for special consumers who are willing to pay a higher price for higher-quality products.
Our special, limited batches matter because they offer a unique, tangible experience that cannot be replicated by digital media. Holding our premium physical magazine allows readers to fully immerse themselves in our content and ads. Additionally, our printed copies have a longer shelf life and often become collectible items by our audience. Our hard copies offer a sensory experience: the look and feel of the paper, the smell of the ink, the sound of turning pages… All of these elements make the reading experience much more enjoyable and memorable.

Flávio started AVESSA in 2019. With an extensive experience with global Big 4 Audit, Accounting & Consulting firms, and Fortune 500 clients, Flávio is a seasoned Strategy & Operations consultant that served the Americas, EMEA, and ASPAC markets, across diverse industries, delivering strategic assessments & technology roadmaps, process design & improvement, and operational business intelligence. His previous clients included KPMG International, PayPal, Eli Lily, Cargill, Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques, Equinix, and Petrobras.
CHIEF CONTENT OFFICER
Fashion Designer and Professor, Mena believes that fashion completely transcends the surface and the most important is how one feels rather than anything else. Fashion is really about how empowered one becomes by it. She channels vibrant flares of vintage fashion and dreams of contemporary twists, inspired by her own life and travels.
ALFONSO DE HOYOS-ACOSTA
CHIEF CREATIVE WRITING OFFICER
Alfonso has decades of strategic and operations experience focused primarily on technology but with a significant emphasis on merchandising and the retail industries. He is a highly inspirational leader and analytical specialist. He has successfully managed teams of up to 6,000 employees that implemented a variety of complex process, technical and data initiatives. Over his career, Alfonso worked extensively for JC Penney, Nordstrom, Lojas Renner, Pão de Açúcar, and Albertsons.
Founded in 1965, Miami International University of Art & Design is located near the heart of the arts district offering degree programs in the areas of Fashion, Media Arts and Design. The campus has more than 100,000 square feet of classroom, computer lab, library, and office space. Miami International University of Art & Design is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award diplomas, associates, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees.
The Fashion Group International is a global, non-profit, professional organization with 5000 members in the fashion industry including apparel, accessories, beauty and home. The FGI mission is to be the pre-eminent authority on the business of fashion and design and to help its members become more effective in their careers. To do this, FGI provides insights on major trends in person, online and in print; access to business professionals and a gateway to the influence fashion plays in the marketplace.
